Theydon Bois AstroKyds (Essex)

At Theydon Bois AstroKyds we have been inspiring young minds with the wonders of the universe for over a quarter of a century. Astrokyds is a group for young astronomers (6+ years) run by some of the Loughton A.S. members. Meetings are held at St Mary’s Church Hall, Coppice Row, Theydon Bois, CM16 7ER, on the second Friday of the month from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.

As far as meetings go, if the sky is clear, we always prioritise observing through telescopes and binoculars, with a guide to finding your way around the night sky. Other than that, meetings have a mixture of content. This can include current the news about Astronomy and Space and what our young astronomers have seen and done; themed talks with activities, including simple experiments, audience participation and demonstrations; and (occasionally) talks and presentations given by our young astronomers.

The aim of Theydon Bois AstroKyds is to kindle an interest in Astronomy and Space, rather than to provide a formal course in astronomy.
